It took grit, determination, and a steady hand to be a rider of the Pony Express. Racing across the untamed American West, these individual riders would cover 10 miles between stations at a breakneck clip to try and cut down the time it took to move mail and small parcels between the expanding territory in California and the East Coast. The brave spirit of these Pony Express riders is captured in a new series of cast silver bars from SilverTowne. SilverTowne launched the Pony Express Silver Bars in early 2021 with a massive 100 oz silver bar and later introduced a 1 Kilo silver bar. All of the cast silver bars in this collection have the same Pony Express-themed design on the obverse. The bars are also designed the same in terms of a horizontal, left-to-right design layout. The obverse of the new 10 oz SilverTowne Pony Silver bears the only inscriptions you will find on the bars. There is a rider of the Pony Express riding as fast as he can on the left side of the design field. On the right side, you will find the weight, metal content, and purity stamped into the bar. The lower-left field includes the SilverTowne mint mark below the feet of the horse. On the reverse side of these bars, the mint has left a blank field. However, you are bound to notice textures, striations, and other lines that form naturally as a result of the cooling and settling of silver during the casting process.
