On the obverse of 2022 Australian Platinum Kangaroo Coin is the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the sixth-generation and latest portrait of Her Majesty to grace Australian coins. Designed in 2015 by Jody Clark, the design shows the Queen in right-profile relief wearing the George IV State Diadem. It is customary for monarchs to feature in the same relief throughout their reign. As the Queens father, King George VI, was always depicted in left-profile relief, the Queen has featured in right-profile relief. The reverse side of the 2022 1 oz Platinum Kangaroo comes with a depiction of a red kangaroo hopping along. The figure of the kangaroo shown here was created by Stuart Devlin and was inspired by the 1936 Copper Penny design issued before decimalization in Australia.
